Story of the South

The following assignment was assigned in English 462: Studies in Major American Authors. This assignment was a way to capture the era of the books we were currently reading and find photographs from Eudora Welty that represent the culture. We came up with a story from each photograph and created an overarching theme that turned in to our introduction about the collection of photographs. The standards are met by being able to read the texts given and connect them to images of a photographer during the same time period of the books. I reflected on the time (the depression era) and was able to create stories about the images as if I was retelling their stories. The images impacted the way I wrote due to examining the characters in the book versus the characters in the images. I was able to see both sides, the fictional and the non fictional.
