Admittedly, the direction of Highlander Hacks had a rough start as we were slowly easing back into establishing in-person programs and events due to COVID-19. Nonetheless, our team had grown to overcome the unprecedented circumstances that we encountered throughout the course of our planning, from the lack of a physical venue and low participant reach. Surprisingly, towards the last few weeks of our planning, we ended up having more participants than we anticipated. Taking that into account, we will improve our expertise in outreach in the future to effectively reach more women, girls, and non-binary individuals in our Hackathon.
In the following year, we strive to make Highlander Hacks an in-person event, giving these individuals the opportunity to fully expose themselves to one of the fields in STEM, Computer Science! G4CSE is truly humbled and grateful to have an amazing panel of powerful and inspiring women in STEM as our esteemed judges. We admire our judges' strive and dedication to helping their fellow young women achieve their goals of STEM representation!
