how these options work in practice
It is all a question of time. The process I have developed and refined over the years takes quite a bit of time, from the point of view of the client and also for myself. Let me explain ...
Once a booking is made Liam sends a range of career interest tests and other tests by email, together with weblinks to other tests which are completed online by the client in his/her own home. The client also fills in a detailed and confidential biographical questionnaire on educational and/or occupational history, hobbies, interests, etc. The tests used are a range of occupational interest tests and personality profiles. The interest inventories and occupational tests used are on the Department of Education's recommended list of psychometric instruments for use in schools in Ireland.
The time commitment involved for the client will be at least 3 hours but more likely to be 4 - 4.5 hours, depending on the service required. So this is not something to be undertaken likely. This time should be spread over three or four days, so you will need about a week before booking an appointment to complete everything.
The client returns the completed tests by email and Liam sets to work on drawing up a detailed report. This takes between 2 - 3 hours depending on the service required.
All the work done beforehand frees up time on the day of the appointment for Liam to discuss the results on a one-to-one basis with the client and provide feedback. Liam takes the client through a draft report and answers any questions. During this follow-on appointment, suggestions are offered for a range of future options. The appointment usually lasts about 90 minutes, but this is not set in stone.
The appointment can take place in person, or remotely in a virtual environment via Zoom / Google Meet. Regardless of which option is preferred, the exact same service is provided.
After the appointment, Liam finalises a comprehensive career guidance report and sends it to the client by email.
So you are essentially paying for my time (4 - 4.5 hours), my research and my professional advice
