1998 - A man named loved nostalgia-themed toys and wanted to make affordable and low-tech toys that collectors like himself would love. He created Funko Inc. and released the first Funko Pop, the Big Boy Bobblehead. He then sells the brand with his slogan "Afterall everyone is a fan of something."
2005 - Mike Becker chose to sell the company, which was relatively small at the time, to Brian Mariotti.
2010 - Funko Inc's most popular line, the Pop! Vinyl figure, debuts and fans are hooked immediately and still are to this day. Funko got the license to some of the most recognizable fictional characters with Marvel and DC agreeing to let Funko make Pop! Vinyl figures with their superheroes, some of which were Superman, Thor, and Batman.
2011 - Funko acquires the license to some Disney properties which was, and still is to this day, one of the biggest licenses that Funko has ever acquired with Mickey Mouse, Star Wars, and many others coming along.
2012 - The two and three packs of Funko Pops, which were boxes with two or three figures inside, debuted and fans liked them and the packs are still used today.
2013 - Funko finally acquired the rights to use Amazon, Target, and Hot Topic licenses and characters as figures.
2018 - Michael Lunsford is appointed to CEO of the company in July of
2019- Funko buys out the Everrete Aquasox stadium and renames it Funko field.
2023. He has also served on the board of directors of Funko Inc since 2018.
