On February 23, 2026, radio transmissions revealed a law enforcement incident involving a vehicle pursuit. The incident began at approximately 9:47pm when a Fulton County Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle near IL-116 and County Rd 16 after a driver was reported to have been calling 9-1-1. The vehicle did not yield, and although the Knox County Sheriff's Office was asked for help as the vehicle approached the county borders, the chase mostly stayed in Fulton County.
At 10:07 pm during the course of the event, the suspect reportedly told 9-1-1 dispatchers that she was not able to open the door to her vehicle and alleged that an explosive device was present inside the vehicle. At 10:12 pm, deputies turned off their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to calm the situation while continuing to monitor the car’s whereabouts.
The pursuit was heading to Avon at 10:19 p.m., finally ending on West Lafayette Street. At 10:23 p.m., the female suspect was successfully apprehended by law enforcement. No injuries were reported.
