FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
01/15/2026
On January 14, 2026, the Farmington Police Department responded to Farmington Central High School regarding an altercation between two juveniles. Both individuals were subsequently removed from the property. One juvenile had issued a threat to the other via Snapchat, accompanied by a photograph of a firearm. The firearm was later identified as an airsoft gun resembling a Glock pistol. The Farmington Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, and Peoria County deputies assisted with the incident. One juvenile was charged with aggravated assault, while the other was charged with aggravated battery. Both juveniles were released to their parents
We contacted Farmington Police due to the “lockdown” incident. They stated that the school was never on lockdown but the officer could have misunderstood what school administrators told them when they got on scene.
