Need to know: Adults must understand the purpose and value of new knowledge. They want to know "what's in it for me" and how the learning will apply to their personal or professional lives.
Experience: Adult learners have a rich reservoir of life experience, which is a valuable resource to be incorporated into the learning process. This experience provides context for new information but can also lead to biases that need to be addressed.
Self-concept: As individuals mature, they move from a dependent self-concept to one of greater self-direction. Adults prefer to have control and take responsibility for their own learning journey.
Readiness to learn: Adults are most motivated to learn when they experience a need to know something in order to perform more effectively in their lives. This readiness is often linked to their immediate life roles and responsibilities.
Orientation to learning: Adults are problem-centered rather than subject-centered. They want to learn how to solve real-world problems and prefer practical, immediately applicable knowledge.
Intrinsic motivation: While adults may respond to external motivators like a promotion, they are more powerfully driven by internal factors such as self-esteem, personal growth, and a better quality of life.

Combination of images and text
Creative Commons (CC) licenses offer a flexible way for creators to share their work while retaining copyright and granting the public permission to use it under specific conditions. These licenses are a standardized system, based on copyright law, allowing creators to choose how their work can be reused, remixed, or adapted by others.
Self-directed learning represents a vital and emerging component of Blended Learning. For many students, however, developing the ability to learn independently can be demanding. Through the use of KA Tutorials, learners are able to progress at their own pace, revisit complex sections as needed, and concentrate on areas where they experience difficulty.
Yet, the abundance of resources available online can easily overwhelm them. Therefore, structured guidance and a clearly defined learning path are essential to prevent students from losing focus or direction. References provided by lecturers and tutors serve as valuable signposts, helping learners navigate their studies more effectively.
It should also be noted that not all students possess the self-discipline required to study diligently without external supervision. In such cases, motivational mechanisms—such as KA’s monitoring tools or unannounced assessments—can serve as effective incentives, encouraging greater engagement and consistent effort.
