Willaston Meadow lies adjacent to Johnston Recreation Ground and to the north of Elm Green.
The Meadow consists of:
Jackson's Pond.
Great crested newts have been found in the pond.
The Orchard.
This was mainly established in 2004 with the support of the local Women's Institutes and is mainly apples but also contains pears and damsons. Most are old varieties, some associated with Cheshire
Big Meadow area.
This area has never been used for agriculture and so is a rare habitat.
Dead Man's Pond and surrounding woodland.
Named by local schoolchildren because of its mysterious feel.
School Wood.
Pupils from Willaston CE School planted trees to create a woodland area.
The land is owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council who work in partnership with Friends of Willaston Meadow to manage it. The area is a tranquil place in which to enjoy the natural world and find peaceful relaxation.
In 2023, pupils from Ellesmere Port CE College made a video about the Meadow. To view this, click here.
