School Matinee Ushers work with Mondavi Center staff to manage as many as1500 students and their chaperones in attendance each school matinee. Dozens of Friends members volunteer as ushers at each school matinee. Many Friends members have been ushering for years, but new members are always welcome. School matinees performances are on weekdays and begin at 11:00 am. Most performances are an hour in length.

Members of the School Outreach Committee have the opportunity to work directly with representatives of the school districts receving tickets donated by the Friends of the Mondavi Center. Friends have purchased tickets for 1,500 students their chaperones this season.
School Outreach Committee members are responsible for selecting and then maintaining contact with the school districts which will be receiving free school matinee tickets. Members of the committee work with administrators at the school district level to facilitate the ordering of the tickets and follow up throughout the year.
Each committee member usually has responsibility for communicating with just one school district.
