The Wilton Food Pantry is an organization that supports families who struggle with nutrition insecurity can go. The pantry accepts donations of non-perishable foods.
Plants, flowers, and vegetables that are grown in the Trackside Garden are donated to the Wilton Food Pantry. During the Green Teens program, which I work in, we make flower arrangements and put them in the senior citizens area!
Although there are lots of donations of food at the food pantry, there isn't much fresh food. During the summer, there's a good supply of this thanks to Green Teens and WGC members' extra time put in but not during the earlier seasons.

The Wilton Garden Club is a group of gardeners that garden in the Trackside Garden. The two members that have helped us with our Silver Award are Mrs. Laurie Musilli and Mrs. Pam Nobumoto. Not only are we helping the Wilton Food Pantry with this, but we're helping the Wilton Garden Club (WGC).
The WGC was kind enough to lend us the garden to build the cold frames and use them in the garden. Doing so, we have given them the ability to grow produce in the winter and start growing earlier without the plants dying. Doing so is very helpful for the Mother's Day flower sale to have more flowers to sell.
There are two programs at Trackside that will benefit from my cold frame project: Genesis and Green Teens. Genesis, an alternative learning program, can use the garden and the cold frames as part as their science lessons. Green Teens, an afterschool club for Middlebrook students, will get to use the cold frames while they volunteer in the garden.
The WGC has four pillars: education, preservation, beautification, and conservation. With our Silver Award, these will be achieved. Education is from Trackside. The Genesis program happens at Trackside where the kids can come out and help with the garden during their school day. Preservation is achieved by preserving the Girl Scout past of the garden. To explain, this garden was started by a Girl Scout, Karina Olsen, for her Gold Award.
