We took our dads to Home Depot to purchase materials. They taught us exactly what we needed to make sure our cold frame held up. We had no idea that it mattered what kind of wood and screws we used!
Cedar wood
Galvanized deck screws (galvanized to prevent rusting)
Galvanized hinge with pin
Clear marine vinyl
Galvanized handles
Chains (for holding down the lid)
Electric saw
Drills
Staple gun
We made sure to use materials that are not bad for the environment. We chose cedar because it doesn't rot or decay easily and isn't affected by moisture. This is great because our project must be sustainable. And the galvanized metal is non-rusting. Also great for keeping the produce safe.
