Louie was Freckles Farm's first donkey and when he arrived we realized we had a lot to learn! It really is true that donkeys are incredibly different from horses and the training has to very trust-based. There's no way you're going to convince a donkey to do anything they don't want to do.

When Louie first came to Freckles Farm in December 2014, he was so skittish nobody could even get close to him! He had never been worked with before and had so much fear.

Through a lot of work, and much trust being built we slowly introduced him to the idea that humans have a lot of love to give.

In return, he shared with us his super sweet (and sometimes a little mischievous) personality.

Now, Donkey is one of the fan-favorite horsemanship choices!
