Wordwall
This site allows any user to play several games created by teachers to help students scaffold their learning of a wide array of topics. These types of games are really useful to learn lexical items in a foreign language making it more attractive and dynamic for learners in contrast to the usual coursebook or copy file.
For example: in the case that the students are tasked to work with coursebooks that mainly focus their practice onto completing pages of exercises, Wordwall can be used as a different way of portraying the same content in a more dynamic and interactive way. Ranging from memory tests to game-show like contests, these possibilities allow students to participate alongside their classmates to complete the same exercises that they would've solved on their own on a page.
Canva:
This site allows their users to create many type of presentations and data infographics that are visually appealing with little technological knowledge. An extensive list of designs are available even for free users which makes it extremely useful for students of all ages. The immense offer of styles and patterns one can apply can be used by students to create presentation for many topics while allowing them to show their creativity and personalities on their work.
One activity that may be carried out with the help of Canva can be a small research project in which students are allowed to pick an item from a list to create a small infographic to be shared with the rest of the class or grouped into a whole collection of them as a class project. This list may range from different countries and their culture, different ways of creating clean energy or their favourite musical group. If the activity will involve an investigation period on the internet, the teacher may provide, aside of a big enough period of time to actually devote time to the assignment, a curated list of web sites that are safe to navigate and provide faithful information.
