Before anything else, I think that you might have actually seen the VMA or the Oscars awarding ceremony on your TV or phone. Or perhaps you’ve been to actual graduation from former batches. It must’ve been so rewarding to the awardees accepting those trophies and medals, knowing what they went through in the process of obtaining their success. To get to the point, while it might be popularly perceived that a medal can't define you, nevertheless it turns out that medals are actually symbols of extensive effort reflecting your commitment to your craft. Not only that, but also the amount of hard work you pushed through to achieve your higher goal. In fact, that’s what medals are for.
It is gratifying to receive a medal or a trophy as a sign of successfully reaping your highest achievement; but some people find it as just a bonus to get that token of excellence as it does not outweigh the amount of time, strength and intellect you exerted to reach your goal. But I beg to disagree; medals do define you at some point. I believe it as a trademark of how hardworking and smart-working you are as a person.
Medals are more than just pieces of accessories designed to garnish you on stage. They mean more than just pieces of gold, silver, or bronze or anything at all that it’s made of. It’s the most beautiful prize in return for the kind of person you’ve made yourself become in the days of persevering and enduring through the struggles. For me, that is a heavy reason to be defined by a medal. It’s not just something to reward you at the end and make you feel like you did better than anybody else; it’s something you achieve for yourself because you tried hard to be the best just like everyone else and you excelled in doing so. However, it will not define your future and how you’ll turn out to be after the awarding ceremony; but it will surely give you the recognition you deserve for the days when you strived to bury the odds and rise above them. It is proof of your excellence in handling your battles and actually winning them, and so the medal is your well-deserved crowning glory.
It’s easy to say that something so small like three coins combined can’t actually define something so great like the entire process of building your wishes concretely. But that small thing matters just as great because it means so much more than what it is and how it looks like. Not only that, but it really depends on the person on how they look at it and how they perceive it to be. Maybe it’s not something that would predict great days ahead nor will it toss you to higher grounds nor guarantee you of an immediately higher status in life. But it will be a remembrance of how you tried to break free from your shell enable to roam free to the world equipped with experiences and learnings from the lessons that both life and your training grounds taught you.
Definitely, a medal does define your efforts and therefore defines you. After all, you are what you do, and your reward is becoming the person you’ve always wanted to be. Medals symbolize and recognizes those moments of yours. They aren’t just bonuses that you claim at the end of a journey. They are trademarks of the person you became when you were showing the world what you’ve got in the times when it tested you in hot waters. Ultimately, as you’ve achieved the fight for your dreams despite the hardships and the hindrances, those medals are the witnesses that you deserve the recognition and your efforts surely aren’t in vain.
