This school year the Federation for Children with Special Needs announced a change to their virtual Basic Right workshops they used to host for our district.
Instead of offering just one free virtual basic rights workshop for SEPACs, they now have a monthly calendar listing weekly rights workshops and special topics all school year long. Both families and educators can sign up for the FCSN workshop of their choice on a date and time that works for them.
Their basic rights workshops include:
Basic Rights: Evaluation and Eligibility
Basic Rights: Understanding the IEP
Basic Rights: Transition Planning (for students 14-22)
They also offer additional topics such as Suspension and Discipline, Bullying, Social Emotional Learning, Effective Communication, Planning for College, Sharing Your Story and more.
