The conference banquet will be a lobster dinner on Thursday, July 19th at 6pm, in a tent next to Goldstein Hall. The subsidized cost is $40/person, which we hope will encourage most participants to attend. There will be live music by Reckless Breakfast, as well as wine and beer. Below is the menu:

The excursion will take place in the afternoon of Wednesday, July 18th. Buses will be leaving at 12:15 (right after the talks end) from right outside the Hopkins Center, and lunch will be provided on the bus. If you sign up for the kayak trip, please remember to pack accordingly.
The state of Vermont is renowned for both its food/beer culture as well as its beautiful outdoors. To experience both of these, the FPSAC '18 conference excursion will take participants to the Artisans Park in Windsor, VT (http://www.artisanspark.net). This park is a collective of eight (distinctly Vermont) business including: Harpoon Brewery, Silo Distillery, Vermont Farmstead Cheese Co., Blake Hill Preserves, and the famous Simon Pearce artisan glass gallery.
The base price of $45 includes transportation, admission to the Path of Life sculpture garden, and lunch provided on the bus. Once there, you can explore the outdoor park (which includes a sculpture garden and borders the Connecticut River) and visit any of the above businesses (many offer free tastings). Simon Pearce offers a free glass blowing demonstration. For those interested, Harpoon and Silo will offer tours for $10 (paid at the door, not included in above base price). If you are hungry, dining options include a taco food truck, a wood fire pizza station, and Harpoon's restaurant.
For a more adventurous outdoor experience, an optional 2 hour canoe/kayak trip down the Connecticut River, ending at the Artisan Park, can be booked in advance for an additional $34. There are limited spots for this activity, given on a first-come first-served basis.
You can sign up and pay for the excursion through the FPSAC '18 online registration form. The deadline to sign up is June 30th.
Welcome reception and other activities
All participants are invited to a welcome reception on Sunday, July 15th from 5pm to 7pm in Goldstein Hall, in the McLaughlin Cluster.
The registration desk will be open in Goldstein Hall from 2pm onward on Sunday.
We will also set up a big screen in Goldstein Hall on Sunday at 11am to watch the FIFA World Cup Final.
Finally, participants are invited to a gelato social on Friday, July 20th from 4pm to 6pm in the Maffei Arts Plaza, behind the Hopkins Center.
