Dear Saints,
I am happy to say that it seems like we are coming out of the latest Covid variant restrictions. I pray that as we move toward increasingly longer days and (slowly) warming temperatures, we can look forward to gathering again in full and returning to a more joyful community.
As we start to reconstitute, there are things we are eager to bring back (like gathering in worship in larger numbers, singing, and having conversations face to face) and there are things we will need to re-create to keep things new and fresh.
As we enter into Lent this year, we are trying something new in the hopes of engaging and re-engaging us all, including our children and families that have not been served during the pandemic.
I have created a ‘deck’ of Lenten cards; one for children and families and another ’deck’ for adults. They are designed to help us all think and act differently this lent based on the early church’s Lenten practices of 'Praying, Fasting, and Giving Alms’. There are 40 cards in both decks; one for each day in Lent.
The family Lenten cards have already been mailed and the adult decks are available at the church and are beautifully wrapped in a purple bag, thanks to the Nickels and Nickel artistic. We will be delivering decks to those who are homebound this week and I hope the rest of you can pick up Lenten decks either at our Ash Wednesday service or next Sunday, March 6th, which is the first Sunday in Lent. We have created 250 Lenten card decks in total so is it is my hope that you will take one for your household and take many others to give to family and friends who might like to share in this new Lenten journey.
May these card decks be a help to start your Lenten journey, and a companion to help you reconnect to your faith and to this church.
Seeking reconnection with you,
Rev Jen
