Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drop my kids off at events?

In most cases, no. Parents are expected to stay at events with their child. One of the best parts of our group are the friendships that are formed between families when we all enjoy events together!

The exception to this is for middle and high school drop off events, in which cases a waiver must be signed by parents.

Do I have to plan a party?

You do not need to plan a party, but every member is required to organize at least one event per school year*. Some examples of ways to fulfill this requirement are, but not limited to:

  • Serving in a position on the Footsteps Board of Directors.

  • Planning a simple park meet up and creating an event for it.

  • Setting up a field trip to a museum, business, historical site, etc.

  • Organizing a regularly scheduled club (i.e. chess clubs, book clubs, craft clubs, etc.)

  • Assisting with a planned party or event organized by the Footsteps Board.

  • Planning a meet-up for middle and/or high school students.

One event is the bare minimum. As a member-run group, the more our members organize, the more vibrant and active our group will be!

* The exception to this rule is mothers of babies under a year old as well as legacy members.

What does the money for dues go towards?

Our dues go almost entirely towards insurance for the group. Any money we have remaining after paying for insurance, as well as additional funds raised throughout the school year, goes almost exclusively towards parties and enrichment activities for our Footsteps members. Specific financial questions can be directed towards our treasurer, whose contact information can be found on the Board of Directors page of this website.

Do I have to have a Facebook account to be a member of Footsteps?

While you are not required to have a Facebook account, at this point all of our events and communication currently happen exclusively through Facebook, so it is in your best interest to have an account. Some of our members create an account for the sole purpose of being a part of our community.
