BASF continues to contaminate the Air, Land, Great Lakes Water,
and Drinking Water Critical Assessment Zone
in these Elected Officials districts
Here are the Local, State, and Federal Elected Officials that know BASF Wyandotte, has and is, continually contaminating the Detroit River yesterday, today, and tomorrow with their Toxic Hazardous Waste venting groundwater into the Critical Assessment Zone of the Wyandotte Intake in the Detroit River, as well in violation of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Downriver Community (LINK, note BASF is in RCRA violation, but both EPA and EGLE are sitting on the data to trigger the violation notification and thus need to change the compliance status in RCRA from "No Violation" to "High Priority Violation").
The Representative below are fully aware of the levels of contamination and releases into your environment, as well as the environmental laws broken by BASF as well as USEPA and EGLE for not enforcing the Public Trust.
How the Public can impact and change the current status quo of BASFs continuous ongoing contamination and your environmental USEPA/EGLE Apathy towards allowing it:
A. Call/email a Public Representative for an Immediate ENFORCEABLE COMPLIANCE Schedule at BASF NW with Fines and Penalties. It should not take 30+ years AFTER an Order to see this Multinational Conglomerate be brought into compliance.
Shame on the USEPA and State of Michigan Administrations for allowing this to continue for Decades.
B. Call/email a Public Representative for an Immediate Compliance Monitoring Plan at BASF NW per the States exiting 1985 Court Order. This Monitoring should include Public Oversight and the data should be posted for all to see in Real Time, just
like NOAA Detroit River Water Levels currently are.
C. Send an email to the Michigan Attorney General (Dana Nessel (miag@michigan.gov) asking her to immediately enforce provisions of the state Court Order with BASF that her predecessor Frank Kelley fought for and won in U.S. District Court in 1985.
D. Alert the new EGLE Director Phil Roos (roosp@michigan.gov) of the urgent need for his agency to stop BASF from discharging 3,000 gallons per hour of toxic contaminated groundwater to the Great Lakes in Wyandotte, and ask the new director to take action to protect public health and the health of the Detroit River.
The Representatives below need to know that you care about all the Great Lakes
and Michigans Air, Land, and Water Natural Resources.
If the EPA and EGLE can turn a blind eye to violations here in the Great Lakes by BASF,
what confidence do you have that your little pocket of Michigan wont end up as the
next convenient money-saving corporate dumping ground?

THE FUTURE (TBD)
based on the current uninterrupted streak of 31 years of BASF water quality violations under EPAs Order from 1994.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE. BASF is getting a FREE PASS by USEPA and EGLE to exceed Michigan Water Quality Standards with absolutely no monitoring, no compliance, no enforcement, no penalty and NO DEADLINE, polluting the Great Lakes to Infinity and Beyond. Every Polluters dream: Elected officials, EPA, and EGLE all in sync allowing violations to the Great Lakes Water Quality.
