What do we do?
Our research is based on field monitoring and experimentation and data analysis and modelling. Work is carried out in collaboration with several national and international teams and end-users.
The main expertise of the group is on sediment transport and geomorphic process in river channels at meso and macro scale river units. The group is also interested in the cause-effect relationships between anthropogenic actions that significantly modify the regulation of natural flows and the response of river ecosystems. Field monitoring is achieved by means of advanced automatic sampling stations, measuring sediment transport and hydraulic parameters continuously in order to improve the scientific understanding of not only the physical processes governing sediment transport but its temporal dynamics. This group is one of the few groups doing stable and consolidated long-term research in Spain in the fields of sediment transport and associated channel processes based on a strong field monitoring approach.
