Fanny Ville

Fanny is a PhD student at the University of Lleida. Her contract is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness through the Ayudas para Contratos Predoctorales para la Fomración de Doctores programme (BES-2017-081850).

She has an undergraduate degree in Earth sciences from the University of Tours and a Master’s degree on Hydrosystems and watershed from the University of Tours. Her master thesis was carried out at CEREGE (Centre Européen de Recherche et d'Enseignement en Géosciences de l'Environnement, Aix-en-Provence). This work aimed to assess morphological changes of the active channel in a reach of the Buëch river (Alpes of Haute-Provence, France) through the difference of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs).

After her Master’s degree in 2017 she worked in an environmental consulting company. She participated in a commissioned study by the water agency to characterize the eco-morphological risks associated to the hydropeaking management of the water body of the Rhone-Mediterranean and Corse basins.

She started her PhD in September 2018. Her PhD is focused on the impact of hydropeaking on morpho-sedimentary dynamics (hydraulic flow, bedload and suspended transport, and bed mobility) in mountain river reaches (Cinca and Esera rivers; central Pyrenees; NE Iberian Peninsula). The results of his PhD will be used to design mitigation measure. The research is developed in the Fluvial Dynamics Research Group (Department of Environment and Soil Sciences, University of Lleida) in the background of the research project MorphPeaK (CGL2016-78874-R).
