Alvaro Tena

Alvaro is a Fluvial geomorphologist. He has a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Zaragoza (2012). Alvaro’s Ph.D. was supervised by Dr. Ramon J Batalla (University of Lleida) and focused on suspended sediment dynamics in the Ebro River, a large Mediterranean impounded river located in the North of the Iberian Peninsula. Alvaro’s research interests lies with suspended sediment transport and associated geomorphic processes. His research extends to sediment and water management in regulated rivers (e.g. design and implementation of flushing flows), and modeling of fluvial processes. During his PhD, Alvaro has visited three international institutions (the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS-CNRS), the University of St. Andrews and the Agricultural University of Krakow) amounting to a total of 16 months. He has participated and collaborated in several research projects. Currently he is a postdoctoral researcher on the framework of the CONSOLIDER project: "SCARCE: Assessing and predicting effects on water quantity and quality in Iberian rivers caused by global change”.
