It is often stated that, "it takes village to raise a child. Here at Flower Farms Microschool, we believe it also takes a village to educate a child. One of the virtues that we value is our partnerships with our parents. It gives a strong foundation for our children to learn and grow in a community of loving and caring adults. A positive and uplifting community helps our children learn not only about themselves, but it also encourages them tackle challenges, build knowledge, and thrive. The connections and relationships that are built when involved in a community can give children a sense of belonging and help them develop important social and emotional skills, value the importance of teamwork, respect for others and build confidence.
Strong community participation helps our children become empathetic citizens who have the potential to continue similar work in their own communities as they become young adults. Additionally, youth who give back to their communities learn the importance of helping, gain work experience, and develop leadership skills. Families volunteering together sets an example of responsible citizenship, not to mention, it's quality time with your family in a culture where time is difficult to find.
