According to Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy (2016), the folowing objectives are aimed at this lesson:
Students will identify and list key vocabulary related to environmental issues (e.g., pollution, recycle, waste, protect) after exploring online resources.
Students will summarize information from web texts and short videos about pollution causes and effects using graphic organizers.
Students will categorize real-life actions into “help the environment” vs. “harm the environment” using a collaborative digital worksheet.
Students will compare different types of pollution (air, water, land) mentioned in the websites and explain how they affect nature and people.
Students will discuss and justify which environmental problems are most serious for their own community using online images or short articles as evidence.
Students will design a simple digital vocabulary poster illustrating key terms and eco-actions using tools such as Canva or Google Slides.
In order to activate ss prior knowledge, they will brainstorm:
Where do we see pollution?
What types of pollution do we know?
Teacher records vocabulary on the board (air, water, plastic, rubbish, factory, recycle).
Mini-task:
Students match words with images of pollution. The teacher will bring some flashcards.
Students will work in pairs using two websites:
♻️Website 1: Time for Kids
♻️Website 2: National Geographic Kids
Activities:
Read the short articles or watch the mini-videos and complete the following worksheet:
Identify:
✔️Types of pollution
✔️Causes
✔️Effects on animals and people
The teacher will monitor and aid ss in need.
The pictures are screenshots from the websites.
As a follow-up and consolitadion activity will design and create a mini poster called:
“Our Planet Has a Problem!”
It will be done in small groups. Students should include:
1 type of pollution
2 causes
2 effects
1 illustration
When they are ready, they will share their posters orally, explaining what are they about.
Students will compare and contrast their productions.
