Target topic: Environmental pollution and recycling.
Target class: EFL class for 12-year-old students at an intermediate level.
Objectives of the unit: The students will be presented with several resources tackling environmental pollution. As they explore them following instructions, they will investigate about the issue and find out about possible ways to combat it presented in articles from global associations. Students will be expected to work collaboaratively and keep a record of new lexical items that they may encounter and ideas to create an infographic on what we must and mustn't do as a society. As a final product, they will create an infographic on key ideas to reduce environmental pollution.
By the end of this unit ss will have achieved the following objectives established according to Bloom´s taxonomy (2016):
Students will list key terms and concepts connected to causes and solutions of environmental pollution.
Students will summarize the main ideas of articles on pollution and sustainability.
Students will organize extracted ideas into thematic sections using collaborative notes or graphic organizers.
Students will justify decisions about what society must do to reduce pollution during group discussions.
Students will design and produce an infographic presenting key actions society should take to combat environmental pollution.
