With it being Black History Month, I wanted to make something that not only represented me, but all black women. Black Girl Magic is a movement that honors and celebrates the beauty, power, and achievements of black women. I wanted to create something that captures how proud I am to be a black woman. I immediately knew that I wanted to incorporate the message of BGM in my design, as well as my love for space aesthetics.

Going into the design process, I was extremely excited for this project. I had many different sketches that I wanted to do. I ended up choosing a design similar to the sketch in the upper left corner because I felt that it represented the message that I wanted to put out the most. Compared to design processes of previous projects, this one didn't take very long.

For this project I used an Inventables X-Carve and Easel through Inventables in order to execute my design. The material used for this project includes Soft Maple wood and a 1/8 straight cut bit.

I didn't really face any major challenges during this project. However, I did have some difficulty trying to manage the depths of each shape as well as figuring out how I wanted the different shapes to look. Overall, I enjoyed watching my creation be carved and painting it was very relaxing.
