My name is Steviona Flax. I am a UIUC graduate, majoring in clinical psychology, and a Lane Tech Alumni as of June 2020. While attending Lane, I partook in a Human-Computer Interaction class called Innovation and Creation Lab (ICL). This class gives students opportunities to express themselves by engaging in a curriculum that pushes them to become individual designers and entrepreneurs. It is mainly a hands-on course that focuses on many innovative tasks as well as the principles of research and design. We are also supplied with high-quality desktop manufacturing tools and free and open source software applications. Prior to this class, I also took a Media Computation class where I learned many programming concepts through Python in order to make music and graphics.
My experience with ICL has been nothing but spectacular. I love being able to come up and design anything I put my mind to as well as executing those designs in a cool and unique way. The environment is extremely positive and everyone is so welcoming and supportive. I highly recommend this class to anyone who has the resources and opportunity to take it because it is not like other classes and it's definitely a class that shouldn't be taken for granted.
