For the first week of development, I sorted out the logistical chores of organizing the team and our resources. I also spearheaded our ideation process that led to the inception of Self-Reflection.
Once the team's Discord server was setup, I organized meeting times for us to lay the groundwork of task management, source control, and other tools to manage our resources. During our meetings, I collected everyone's game ideas and ran a poll for which was the most agreeable. After finding a conclusion, I helped assign everyone work for the rest of the week. The rest of my time this week was spent on record keeping for our meetings and working on the 1-pager and eventual 5-pager sell documents. I contributed bits and pieces to the story, level design, and general overview of how the game would play out throughout these documents.
This week I worked on some more team organization and planning for the game. I held a meeting for everyone to be assigned to sub-teams responsible for creating tasks relevant to Story/Art and Programming/Level Design. After that, I helped refine the game's hook, narrow down our target audience, and in general guide the direction of the game's continued design. I met with the Story/Art sub team as well to provide ideas and feedback on our setting and characters. My most important work this week has been my contributions to the GDD by sectioning out all of our content and filling in specific sections, such as the game overview and our team's organization and management sections.
This week I worked on establishing guidelines for our asset template list with the Technical Directors and Story/Art team. I also incorporated previous feedback and suggestions into a meeting on our level design philosophy. By communicating the idea that the levels can be iterative by gradually adding more challenges to the same environment, our game scope was becoming more concrete. I used this to help assign tasks for the week related to our environment design and core mechanics.
