FAST is administered three times a year to students in grades kindergarten through 10, covering reading and math.
For grades K–2, all FAST PM assessments will be administered remotely using Renaissance Learning’s Star assessments. For grades 3–10, PM1 and PM2 will be administered remotely and PM3 will be administered at a test site.
The FAST assessments are computer-adaptive, meaning that the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on how the student answers. Each student receives different questions from a common item bank, and may encounter content that hasn't been taught yet.
Watch the following video for more information: https://files.portal.cambiumast.com/florida/Media/FLCAT/FLCAT.html
The FAST has five achievement levels, with Level 3 or higher considered on-grade-level mastery and the passing score:
Level 1: Well below grade level
Level 2: Below grade level
Level 3: On grade level
Level 4: Proficient
Level 5: Exemplary
