These images are grouped together because they are of the same area but, focused on different anatomy within that area. For ribs we need to use a lower kVp technique and higher mAs to showcase the bony structures. When we made our chest exposure we knew kVp had to be in the 110-120 range and for ribs it has to be about half of what the kVp was of the chest with an increase in mAs. Both of these are taken using a grid.

This Image is good because we can see 10 ribs or more and there is no rotation evident by the clavicles being straight. The chin is also elevated sufficiently.
