To serve as a hub for wildfire preparedness activities through proactive and collaborative programs.

Provide tools and resources for communities to prepare for wildfire.
Provide a platform for communities and agencies to share projects and success/failure stories.
Increase cross-boundary work between local agencies and private lands.
What is Fire In The Root?
Fire In The Root is a "one-stop shop" for wildfire preparation, coordination, education, and communication in Ravalli County. This platform brings wildfire preparation to the forefront for Ravalli County residents.
Fire In The Root encourages, inspires, and educates communities and organizations about how to better live with wildfire. This resource will provide the tools for communities that want to learn how to become fire adapted as well as what programs are available in Ravalli County.
A community is never done with being fire adapted! Specifically, we can take action towards being more fire adapted. Examples include:
Homeowner's build the concept of survivable space into their decisions.
Residents, HOA's, communities integrate wildland fire into land-use planning and infrastructure decision.
Community planners, developers, realtors, and landscapers integrate realities of fire risk into their work flow.
Communities support land managers in their efforts to restore fire resilient landscapes.
