29" Tall
This contemporary artisan end table features a live-edge slab of quarter-sawn sycamore, showcasing rich medullary rays that shift in the light.
The river channel is filled with a hand-tinted blend of deep blue, seafoam green, and caviar black epoxy — a flowing contrast to the soft natural wood grain.
Finished with layers of shellac and polished to a brilliant gloss, the piece stands on black metal hairpin legs for a minimalist balance.
Dimensions: 12.5″ × 29″ × 1″ (top) × 29″ tall.
A modern expression of nature’s rhythm — where art and function converge.
This piece began as a single cross-section of walnut — a “cookie” that reveals more than fifty years of the tree’s life. Most cookies crack as they dry, but this one’s twin piths created a rare, graceful split instead of the usual radial fracture. I reinforced that natural line with two bowtie inlays, each carefully cut to stabilize the wood and prevent future movement.
To honor the contrast between strength and imperfection, I filled the gap with epoxy tinted in caviar-black metallic pigment, swirling in just a touch of deep purple. The result catches the light with subtle iridescence, like a river of obsidian through walnut grain. Measuring roughly 18–20 inches across and a little over 2 inches thick, the slab rests on modern black hairpin legs, standing 30 inches tall.
It’s both rustic and refined — a celebration of time, resilience, and craftsmanship where nature and design converge.
