I chose to perform Sicilienne by Gabriel Faure because of its ominous feel and its graceful low notes. I have always been drawn to the lower register of the flute and I felt like this solo truly emphasized its beauty. Not only this, but to me, this solo reminded me of our environment, and how the small signs we see everyday (e.g. a sky clouded in smog, abnormal shifts in weather) are foreshadowing something greater. Having always loved nature, it deeply concerned me when I realized just how much of an impact our actions have on the environment. Because of this, I decided to dedicate my Capstone Project in raising environmental awareness.
