So, you want to start editing your film?!

Now that you've finished recording all of your clips, we should look for editing software to put your film together.

In this section we will talk about the technical side of finishing up your film. The next steps will involveselecting shots and retiming and reordering them to tell your story.

Import video clips to your computer

If you have used a tablet to record the clips, you can use the same tablet to edit the videos, so there would not be a need for importing the videos to the computer. If you would like to edit your video on a computer, connect it via the supplied cable of your device (mostly USB) and import the videos.

Look for an editing application

Once you have all of your videos on the device that you are going to use to edit them to create the film, you should look for an editing applications.

If you are using Windows, you should have the Windows Live Movie Maker; if you are using an Apple device, you will have the iMovie included on your device. If you are using a ChromeBook or an Android tablet, you can use any of the online video editing software on the internet. Some of them are: Kizoa, WeVideo, FilmoraGo, KineMaster...

Add sounds and transitions

You will have some layers to edit the audio of your film.

You can also use Soundtrap to create your own original soundtrack.

Soundtrap is a software that allows you to create music collaboratively in any device.

Don't forget the titles and credits

Now it's time to finish editing your film adding titles and credits, you can use them to indicate where the film has taken place, give information of the people who appears there and also to tell the name of your film.

Tip! Take care of the font and colours that you are going to use, as they should contrast the background and, at the same time, reflect the style or genre of your film!

Export your film

Once you are happy with all of the elements in the film, it's time to export it. You can create a file to share and post online. There is always an option that says "export" or "share", follow the instructions and decide where you are going to keep your file.

At the end of this process, you will have a file that contains the completed version of your film. Now you are ready to move on the next and final step.
