Folk Stick Dance

Filipino Stick Dance | Sakuting

The Filipino Stick Dance (Sakuting) is a folk dance from the mountain provinces of northern Luzon. Each dancer holds two sticks (one in each hand) with which they produce rhythmic effects. The sticks are about one and half feet long and 5/8 inches in diameter. This regional dance celebrates cultural heritage and national artistic pride by portraying Philippine fighting art as a ritual dance.
