Mandalorian Armor Project Version 4.0
Done! (With what I wanted to finish) This is the full armor ready to wear, but I would also like to make some fixes to straps, make a helmet that is more proportional to the rest of the armor, and of course add a jet pack! I will update this site when I get to that, but I have lots of other things I need to finish over summer, so for right now this will be my stopping point.
Bought myself boots and gloves (the gloves are just 2 gloves layered)
Everything is just about done! A little more weathering to a few pieces needs to get done, but it will be done by the 30th!
Weathering! I started with coating the piece in black paint that was super watered down and patted it away so it only stayed in the cracks, I then added silver/chrome to make scratches. Or I went over existing scratches to make them a little more defined.
Took a short break, had to graduate real quick!
Full test! Everything fits which means its weathering time!
Leg test fit. Was mostly focused on the knees, they can sag down and pinch my leg, but gotta have a little pain to look good so I'm ok with it :D
Upper body fit test! everything is working so far! Need to strap the back and front together to hold the shoulders up better.
Gauntlet test! They are a little tight, but ill make due.
Hooks! I designed and printed some basic hooks and glued them to the chest plate. Most Armor should be ready to go just needs a clear coat
Printed a Cod plate and got my under suit together. Strapping begins now!
Paint!!! My dad Painted most of the pieces today couldn't have done all this without him!
95% of the pieces are ready for paint. They have the base black coat to keep everything looking the same sleek color.
My dad painted some pieces!! Also printing the final part which is the back plate!
Filling in any visible lines with wood filler!
My dad primed most of the parts! I'm currently sanding a few more pieces and getting some of the last files together
Test fit one leg! Everything held together and I can still move really well!
Straps are done for thighs as well as shins and knee pads now its just about sanding everything
thigh piece done, working on elastic straps that will hold it in place.
Shins are printed and will be sanded tonight!
Here is a horrible quality picture of the first paint we are putting on the chest plate! The project is starting to gain momentum and I have a goal to finish by May 17th!
More sanding.........
I found some shin files I really liked, I resized them to fit in tinker cad, starting the print today.
Helmet is 100% done!!!
Prime time!!! these are the only parts I finished sanded as a test. Hopefully the paint goes on well.
Sanding... This is going to be a lot of sanding..
Most parts have been printed! I'm still looking for a few more armor files I like, but this is a start
I have decided on a chest design I liked. I am taking all 3 of the normal Mandalorian parts and combining them and then cutting some edges so it looks flush. This is the ideal chest plate for me because there's less moving parts to worry about. I hope to have this printed in a few days
I printed the shoulders! I also made a diagram seen in the middle with all the parts I will need to complete the armor as well as some strapping ideas I have.
I have started finding 3D files I like, but they dont quite fit, or Id like to alter some designs, so I threw them in Tinker Cad did some cutting and moving parts around to create a knee pad I liked.
Took a week to do some other work and brainstorm, My dad is having trouble painting the helmet, we tried masking, but that seems to peel the first layer of paint off. Still trouble shooting.
More Painting... Now working on the side pieces, deciding on either the dark blue or a black color.
I have finally got to starting the project, Im starting with the helmet, these are the same colors I used on version 3.0. My dad is helping with airbrushing while I get everything else together.
