Hi! My name is Bobby Coleman and I'm a prop and cosplay creator!
Well, I love to make things, and I love Star Wars! I started from making things out of carboard and hot glue because it was all I had, but as I got more advanced I switched to Eva Foam which is easier to work with and more sturdy than cardboard. Now currently in my most recent project I have begun using a 3D printer and creating plastic parts. All information on how I do what I do will be in "The Process" Tab, to Learn more about the different materials see below!
(The Image to the side is one of the first things I built from cardboard.)
Materials!!!
Eva Foam is a material you have probably walked or seen in gyms. Its a foam board that can come in pieces or rolls that Prop makers use to cut and form shapes to create their projects
Everyone knows what cardboard is! Its what all shipping boxes are made of, but in my case I would take these boxes and break them down and then cut shapes and glue them together with hot glue.
I just recently got a 3D printer and wow it can be a lot of work! But with enough dedication and learning it has become my most used tool for prop making. The Printer I use is the Creality CR 10 v3. It has a 400x400x400 mm base which gives me plenty of room to print the things I want. There are different filaments (Different plastics) that the printer can make things out of, some are more brittle but have unique colors, while others are very strong and sturdy. I am putting the whole process for each of my projects as well as my current one that I am still working on as Im writing this. Go check it out under Project Updates and The Process tabs!
