What should have been another normal day patrolling the portside streets turned into complete chaos and carnage.
Judicial Supervisor Knightsdale had received intelligence that local crime gangs were seeking to smuggle an illicit package through the streets. Teams of law enforcers were therefore deployed to the main thoroughfares on an interception mission. Knightsdale, confident in his forces, set out on patrol himself.
A number of groups of ne-er-do-wells were noted acting suspiciously and Knightsdale immediately moved to put himself in their path. It came as a bit of a surprise when, instead of continuing to try and evade law enforcement, the local lowlife suddenly produced weapons and tried to take out Knightsdale.
Keeping a cool head Knightsdale produced his side arm and promptly shot the nearest offender. However, Knightsdale was soon to fall under a fusilade of gunfire as the port quarter descended into a firefight.
Additional Enforcement Technicians were drafted in to contain the various criminal gangs. No less than three gangs engaged in active law breaking and general violence and destruction.
The heroic keepers of the peace were just beginning to get the upper hand when the whole city erupted into fire and destruction. Somehow a Converted invasion was underway. That left little option except to try and evacuate civilians away as quickly as possible.
Pivoting mission the Enforcement Technicians now moved to rescue and escort roles, gathering up groups of the civil population and heading them towards the spacesport and escape. In the chaos and uncertainty, there was no time to apprehend the criminal gangs and, indeed, they served as a useful distraction as the Converted began attacking any and all organic opposition. Thankfully, some local zoo animals were released on welfare grounds and these proved very hostile to several Converted scouts.
Despite their heroic efforts, the forces of Law and Order were not able to rescue everyone. Not everyone made it to the spaceport. Not everyone escaped. Not everyone survived. As the sun went down the port city did not descend into darkness; the burning buildings and the continuing weapon fire made sure of that...
