Fronds to over 2 m long, 2 or sometimes 3 times divided, waxy blue below
Fronds shiny above, waxy blue below; scales at the base of the frond stalk dark brown, woody and spiny
Stem & branches:
Trunk thin, warty, fronds shed to leave smooth scars on the trunk
Stalks with dark brown warts at the base; scales woody at the base, the tips spiny
