About us: Our research focuses on understanding and controlling interfacial charge transport through molecules and biomolecules. By integrating molecular synthesis, protein engineering, and surface chemistry, we investigate how molecular structure, energy-level alignment, and electrode–molecule electronic coupling govern charge transport across molecular interfaces. We employ diverse chemical strategies to tailor the electronic properties of molecules and proteins immobilized on electrode surfaces, aiming to establish fundamental structure–property relationships and develop functional molecular and biohybrid electronic devices. Our research interests also encompass surface functionalization, nanofabrication, protein-based gas sensing, molecular monolayer characterization, and protein film electrochemistry.
The broader goal of the group is to translate these fundamental insights at the molecular level to proof-of-principal electronic devices with new electronic functions not possible with conventional semiconductor electronics.
