Teaching Methods of Mentor Teacher

Excellent teachers are a key component of high-quality education. The extent of creativity a teacher uses in the classroom is an important indicator of his/her effectiveness.  Teaching methods are the general principles and pedagogies that was used by the teacher for classroom instruction. The observed teaching methods that were used by my mentor-teacher are as follows: 1.) Direct Instruction, a teacher-directed teaching method wherein the teacher just present, give explicit and guided instruction for the students. 2.) Student-centered learning, it is the heart or the focal point of the teaching and learning process. It is a method used by my mentor-teacher wherein the students actively learn, engaged, and meaningfully participate as it is in-line with their interests and easy for them to understand and connect the lessons being transpired by the teacher. And, 3.) Competency-based learning, is a method wherein it develops and demonstrates mastery of the pupils in the lesson being taught. Moreover, the methods that were used here in Indonesia was also the methods used by the teachers in the Philippines, three of the best methods used in the teaching-learning process.

Teaching Materials and Innovations

Teaching strategies are the materials employed by the teacher to present their topics in a way that keeps students motivated. The resources will depend on the teacher of what he/she used in the teaching process and in-line with the subject matter. Materials and Innovations takes place in learning as it arouses the interests of the students. The teaching materials and innovations that were used by my mentor-teacher are as follows: 1.) Erlangga Reader Application wherein it makes the students to learn and grasp the topic easier and also it improves their listening comprehension skills. The most used innovations in teaching English class. 2.) YouTube Application whereas the teacher downloads some learning videos for the student to have an access and have a wider knowledge on what is being taught. And, 3.) PowerPoint presentations a multifaceted tool where the teacher can make interesting, engaging and interactive lessons for the students.

It is the application of technology for the enhancement of teaching, learning and sometimes assessment. Learning Technology includes computer-based learning and multimedia materials to support learning. The learning resources and technologies that was used by the mentor-teacher is the productivity tools wherein it includes applications such as Power Point presentations and MS word. A pedagogical framework wherein it can support learning by enhancing the quality of the learning process and by improving student productivity. Using learning resources for instruction, the teacher evaluates the right and in-line resources, which offer greater advantages for their teaching. It is the important to employ such good learning resources and technologies in the teaching-learning process for a better and favorable outcome.
