The Prairie Union is a multinational federative republic of seven of the Sun Prairie Nations, founded originally by six states, on the 30th of August. It pursues unified trade, single economic markets, a united currency, a united military, cooperation between nations, open borders, internal free trade, and human/democratic rights. Because of it's membership and stated goals it is considered the successor to SPATO.

History

The Vision for the Prairie Union can be traced back to the Despan proposal for the United Cities, which sought better military cooperation, a council of representatives of each nation and no tariffs or trade bans between member nations. The resolution never even reached the SPATO council (where it was meant to be passed and adopted), however it did inspire the Charter of the Prairie Union.

On the 27th of June, John Banks-George finished his draft of the Charter, which was then amended via suggestions from other national leaders and State Governors of the Federation. On the 30th of July, 2019, Dauntless, the United Federation of Paper Planes, the Federal Wisconsinite Republic, Crimson Dusk, the Republic of New Washburn, and the United Nations Supporting Communism all adopted the Charter, officially forming the Prairie Union. 5 Days later, on August 4th, Radtopia initiated Article One's Third Portion (A1-3), and the temporary parliament unanimously approved it's admission.

A1-3 was also activated by the West Mendotan Republic on August 5th, and unanimously approved for ascension to the Prairie Union.

One day before, the Prairie Union ratified a law making all of the colonies in the Prairie Union's member states under the same organization, the Prairie Union Joint Colonial Authority. There are currently 178 colonies under the PUJCA.

After the Dauntless Disbandment, the UFP retained the land of Dauntless.

Geography

The Prairie Union lies on the land in Wisconsin which was largely hit by glacial drift, with a slight amount (largely the UNSC) within the Driftless Zone. In addition, the southeast of the Prairie Union the climate is largely Warm Continental, while the remaining amount is Temperate Continental.

Expansion

Outside the original 6 nations, the Prairie Union has gained Radtopia as a member state, and the West Mendotan Republic. The only nation that has not currently joined the Prairie Union and has clearly stated it will not is the Central Despan Republic.

A1-3 has been utilized two times thus far, and both have been successful. It is now expected that at the start of the 19-20 school year, several new nations will be created, as is the norm for starts of school years, and the Prairie Union has stated that it will be fully willing to admit these new nations if they are free and democratic, and meet the economic standards.

With the breakup of the Republic of Despa, the Prairie Union absorbed a vast majority of it's territory, expanding the Federation, UNSC, Radtopia, Dauntless, FWR, and the Joint Colonial Authority of the Prairie Union.

Economics

Currently, the Prairie Union as a whole is the largest economy in the Sun Prairie Nations, and since the original 6 member states joined, each nation's economy has grown by an average 10%. The Federation alone trumps the Despan Economy, which places second of all of the SPN after the Fed and ahead of Crimson Dusk and the FWR.

After the premature resignation of Ryan Madden, the Federation's economy tanked 2 billion in two hours. According to Interim President John Banks-George, the only thing that kept the economy from going over a cliff was the Prairie Union's support structure. He described it by saying, "It's the difference between a fistfight by yourself or with 9 allies. You're gonna take hits, but by sharing the blows and working together, you end up much better than otherwise."

Joint Military Structure

A key portion of the charter is that the military forces of all the nations signatory to the charter will operate in a cohesive, single force. This was solidified after the start of the 3rd Despa War, with the Establishment of the Joint Union Forces Command (JUFCO), and the divisioning of three distinct command operations.

Northern Command (NORCOM) - responsible for Grand Meowtopia, the North of the Federation, Northern Radtopia, Port Freeland (U.F.P.) and the Scout Nationsl
Central Command (CENCOM) Responsible for the West Mendotan Republic, the Central-West Federation, Southern Radtopia, and the Capitol States of the UNSC.
Southern Command (SOUCOM) - Responsible for the Southern Federation, South and Southwestern UNSC.

Parliament of the Union

The Parliament of the Prairie Union is the legislative assembly of the Prairie Union. It is elected differently in each country, but apportioned to the same ratio. All nations start with one Member of Parliament (MP). If the population is higher than 5, it gains a second MP (ex. 6 members, 2 MP). This continues until each division of 5, plus the remainder, have one MP. For example, the United Federation, with a population of 43, gets automatically 8 seats, and for the extra 3 remaining, it gains one more seat.
