Family Connector Responsibilities
Outreach to school staff
Be kind and work professionally with others, including co-workers, school staff and families.
Use tools to provide ongoing coordination with counselors, administration, social worker regarding parent/family needs.
Outreach to parents/caregivers and families.Â
Be kind and work in a professional and equitable manner with all families.Â
School tours, family orientations, new student support, assisting registrar with difficult to locate transcripts, welcome calls to new parents/caregivers.
Community Resource connection
Partner presentations/workshops
i. Work with administration/school staff for room reservation.
ii. Work with co-workers to identify and promote/advertise.
Become familiar with community partners.
Parent/Caregiver education
Navigate GSD academic options (GTI, CTE, College, etc.)Â
i. Know how to connect parents with Counselor, College Access Advisor, Social Worker, etc.
ii. Become familiar with Granite School District Student Planning Guide.
iii. DO NOT provide students with tutoring, classes, etc. This is to be arranged through school staff.
Educate parents on GSD tools, i.e., Gradebook, Parent Portal, Canvas, etc.
Provide only AUTHORIZED workshops/classes to parents/families.
Basic Needs Support
AS DIRECTED BY SCHOOL ADMINISTORS/FACE LEADERSHIP, provide basic need support, i.e., food pantry, dental, medical, vision partners to families.
School application process
Be familiar with and be able to support families in filling out application materials, i.e., Registration, Fee Waiver, Free/Reduced lunch application, other application materials.
Follow School policy
Do NOT allow students access to the family center, food pantry without specific note from administration/teachers/staff. Â
i. Student pantry/basic needs should be handled by school counselors/social worker/administration.
ii. When/if students show up without proper note, connect student immediately to the correct school staff.
Do NOT allow families to leave their children with you in the family center while they leave the school campus.
