Swim & Croquet Club
Swim & Croquet Club
As the Board fields many, many questions throughout the season, we thought we would share some of the popular questions and answers, just in case you too, have these questions.
Guests
Q: How many Guests may I bring to the Club?
A: A Member may bring a maximum of 6 Guests per day to the Club.
Q: May my Guests be at the Club without me present? (i.e. May I drop them off for an hour or two?)
A: No. You, the Host, are required to be at the Club with your Guest(s) at all times.
Q: Why must I be at the Club with my Guests?
A: The Club has insurance based upon Guests being accompanied by their Host Member at all times.
Q: If my 15-year-old has a barcode scan tag, can s/he child bring a Guest or two to the Club with him/her?
A: No. Until your child is 18 years old, s/he may not bring Guests to the Club without an Adult Member present at all times.
Q: I want to bring my neighbor to the Yoga/Water Aerobics/Zumba classes. Is this okay?
A: As long as your neighbor (who is also a Fearrington Village resident) is a current Member of FSCC, this is okay. If your neighbor is NOT a Member of FSCC, s/he may not come to the Club as a Guest, because "Guests" are defined as those who do not reside in the Village. If your neighbor is considering joining the Club, s/he may ask a Board member for a complimentary one-day pass to try out the Club during the Club's posted "open" hours when an Attendant is on duty.
Q: I have relatives visiting. Can they come with me to the Club in the morning before the Club opens?
A: No. Guests may only be on Club grounds when the Club is officially "open" and there is an Attendant on duty.
Barcode Scan Tags & Key Cards
Q: I just renewed my Membership. When do I get a barcode scan tag?
A: Barcode scan tags are used each year; the Club does not issue new ones at the beginning of each season. Unless you lost your barcode scan tag, please continue to use the one from the previous season.
Q: At what age do my children not require direct Adult supervision?
A: Once your child turns 15 years old, s/he does not need direct adult supervision. However, you, the Adult Member, are still responsible for his/her behavior while at The Club.
Q: At what age may my children have a barcode scan tag?
A: Kids of Adult Members may request a barcode scan tag when s/he turns 15 years old.
Q: At what age may my children come to the Club without me present?
A: At 15 years old, your child may come to the Club without an Adult Member present. However, your child may not bring any Guests into the Club with an Adult Member present at all times.
Q: How do I request a new barcode scan tag? I cannot find mine.
A: A replacement barcode scan tag is $10. Please place cash or a check, along with a note including your name that you need a replacement barcode scan tag, in an envelope. Place the envelope in the Club's wooden mailbox, # 18, which is located in the mail kiosk near The Gathering Place. Once the new barcode scan tag is made, it will be left for you at the Club. A: Please send us an email and we will add them to your account. Once we add them, you may login and purchase a membership (and also pay an initiation fee) for them to join.
Service Dogs & Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
Q: What is the policy?
A: Service animals are allowed on FSCC Club property; however, service animals must fit the definition outlined by the ADA. Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not permitted on the grounds of FSCC. Staff members are permitted to, and will, ask the following two questions:
1) Is the service animal required because of a disability,
2) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
According to the ADA, service animals are permitted on the pool deck but are not allowed to enter the actual pool water due to health and safety regulations. Service Animals should remain on leash, under the direct control of their handler. While on FSCC grounds, service dogs are not permitted to relieve themselves on the Croquet Court or on the grounds surrounding the pool decks. Service dogs may relieve themselves only on the Upper Lawn, and the handler must immediately clean up after
the animal.
According to the ADA, Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not service animals. The primary differences between the two classifications are strictly defined by federal laws like the ADA.
Service Animals: Defined under the ADA as dogs individually trained to do work or perform specific tasks for a person with a disability. Because of this specialized training, they are legally permitted to accompany their handlers anywhere the public is allowed.
Emotional Support Animals (ESAs): Provide comfort, companionship and emotional stability simply by their presence, and they do not undergo task training. Under the ADA, they do not have the right to access public spaces like restaurants, stores, pools, businesses.
Q: Where can I get more information about the pool?
A: FSCC Policies/Rules may be found on our Club's website as well as posted on the bulletin board at the Club. https://sites.google.com/view/fearringtonswimandcroquet/about/rules-policies?authuser=0
