🚨 NOW HIRING NEW OFFICERS 🚨!!!
Within the Fairfax County Police Department, Non-Standing Units play a crucial role, operating on a part-time basis where officers are not permanently assigned but rather called upon as needed. Officers in these units typically hold primary assignments in patrol or other units and are mobilized for specific operations or circumstances requiring their specialized skills. The Non-Standing Units include:
Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU)
Special Operations Division (SOD/SERT)
Search & Rescue
Drone Unit
Negotiation Unit
Real Time Crime Center (RTCC)
Training & Development Unit (TDU)
These units are essential for the department's adaptive response to a variety of situations, from civil disturbances and specialized rescue operations to critical negotiations and advanced surveillance, ensuring that specialized capabilities are available to support the department's mission without requiring full-time deployment of these specialized resources.
