Let’s inspire our community by launching a "Greenest Garden" competition, encouraging everyone to plant flowers and greenery to brighten up their spaces. To make it easier, we’ll offer free seeds and starter plants, helping residents get started on transforming their gardens. We’ll also host gardening advice sessions with experienced gardeners who will share valuable tips on planting, maintenance, and sustainable practices. In collaboration with the council, we’ll work to improve public planters, street verges, and community gardens, making sure these spaces reflect the vibrant, green spirit of the area.
For ecological sustainability, we’ll encourage the creation of wildflower lawns instead of traditional grass, which supports pollinators and requires less maintenance. Companion planting will be promoted to naturally deter pests and improve soil health, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Bird feeders and water stations will be set up to support urban wildlife, ensuring that our green spaces benefit not only people but also local animals.
To ensure economic sustainability, we’ll run a "Garden Swap" program, allowing residents to exchange plants, seeds, and gardening tips, making it easier for everyone to grow their own greenery without spending money.
To reward the best gardeners, winners of the "Greenest Garden" competition will receive vouchers from local nurseries, helping them continue to grow and enhance their green spaces. This initiative will create a more sustainable, connected, and beautiful community, where everyone can take pride in their gardens and shared spaces.
