Let’s breathe new life into neglected areas like verges, roundabouts, and public walkways, transforming them into vibrant green spaces filled with beautiful flowers and shrubs. We’ll organize community litter-picking walks, where volunteers not only help clear up rubbish but also plant small shrubs and bulbs along the way, making the environment cleaner and more welcoming. Abandoned plots will be turned into charming “pocket parks,” complete with benches and planters—creating peaceful spots for everyone to enjoy. We’ll also encourage local businesses to sponsor hanging baskets or planters outside their shops, adding colour and life to the streets.
To ensure sustainability, we’ll use drought-tolerant and native plants that need little water to thrive, and we’ll improve soil health with natural composting methods, avoiding harmful chemical fertilizers. We’ll plant edible landscapes—think herbs and berry bushes—in public spaces, adding both beauty and practicality to our greening efforts. Our planters will be made from crowdsourced materials, such as upcycled wooden crates, keeping costs low and reducing waste. We’ll also work with the council to apply for small grants dedicated to urban greening, ensuring long-term success. Together, we’ll transform our community into a thriving, green hub for everyone to enjoy!
