Let’s come together with schools and residents to transform our parks and gardens by planting beautiful wildflowers and nectar-rich plants that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. We’ll create “pollinator highways” by linking small green areas with flowering plants, ensuring that our pollinators have continuous access to food and safe spaces. To inspire others, we’ll provide seed packets and hold informational sessions, encouraging everyone to create their own pollinator-friendly balconies and gardens. A “Bee Count” event will also be organized, where residents can monitor and log sightings of pollinators, helping us track the health of local species.
For sustainability, we’ll focus on planting only native wildflowers and shrubs that provide year-round nectar, supporting pollinators throughout all seasons. We’ll reduce mowing in certain areas, creating natural habitats that give bees and butterflies a place to thrive. Bee hotels and log piles will be installed to support solitary bee species, which are essential for biodiversity. We’ll partner with local garden centres to secure donations of seeds and plants, keeping costs low while encouraging community involvement. Pollinator sponsorships will allow businesses to adopt a flower bed or planter, showing their commitment to green initiatives. And to fund future plantings, we’ll use community-grown flowers for local events—like weddings and festivals—turning our green spaces into vibrant, eco-friendly venues. This initiative will not only support pollinators but also strengthen community bonds and create a thriving, sustainable environment for all.
