Students explore various yarn or textile art techniques and apply basic skills while creating a project.

Design Process:

1. Products:

Choose a clothing item that you like to paint on, for example, you could choose:

Tshirts, Shoes, Bags, Scarves, Jeans, Jackets, Etc.

2. Images:

Sketch your ideas or use google search to find an image that you like to paint. If using google search add these words to the end of your search " Line drawing royalty-free", "Outline royalty-free", "Coloring sheet royalty-free".

For example, if you like to paint a flower you would search " Flowers line drawing royalty-free". Here is a screenshot of this search:

Once you find the image you like to work with, right-click on it and save it to your computer. Then either print it if you have access to a printer or sketch it on paper, make sure you are printing or sketching in the actual size that you are planning to paint. You need to submit these images (either your own hand sketches or a free image you downloaded online) for your assignment marking. Here are some screenshots on how to save an image.

3. Colors: List the colors you like to use for your final project & make a small square sample of your color on your planning sheet

4. Size: Use your ruler or tape measure to figure out the exact measurements of your design and write it on your planning sheet

5. Tracing your image onto your clothing piece:

There are a few different methods you could use to transfer your designs onto your clothing piece. Make sure you are using a light-colored - color pencil to trace your work, using a black pencil is not a good idea as the graphite makes your work looking unclean and messy.
