Good morning dear fashion students and happy new year!!!
Welcome back to school and to our fashion program. This week we will continue to meet online for our class and the following is a list of things we will be doing:
1. Our goal is to finish up the semester successfully and our main focus is to make sure everybody has completed 5 modules to receive 5 CTS credits. This week you will be focused to wrap up and submit everything for your last two modules that were due on December 18th if not already.
2. Important: complete the fashion credit survey: https://forms.gle/AVQA7aoM12LVQqc3A
3. If you are done all this work and would like to receive extra credit, start the "Textile Arts 1" module, please note this is only for people who have completed everything else, if you are not done with your other assignments your goal is to complete those first. https://sites.google.com/educbe.ca/fashion-studies/modules-by-topics/illustration-design/textile-arts-1
With the shortage of face mask, most of us are unable to find pre made masks at the stores or even online. Based on my research cotton is a safe and good material to be used to make protective face mask when you go out to buy groceries or attend other essential work. Please note this is not like N95 mask that protects health professionals when they are treating patients, rather offers you a basic protection and it is better than walking to the stores with nothing covering your nose and mouth.
You could use a cotton fabric, and if you don't have access to new fabric, you may use an old cotton shirt, t-shirt or an old sheet to recycle and make wonderful face mask. There is a module called "REDESIGN, RECYCLE & RESTORE " in which you would use an existing old piece and make something new with it... It's wonderful.
But don't worry too much about credits, making masks is a good way to help our families and I am making some at home too :)
